As a consummate legislator and public policy and governance expert with over 25 years of experience in Human Infrastructure, Development Consulting and Seasoned Technical Insights for the public sector, Dr Ben Nwankwo has served Nigeria in various roles, including Commissioner handling strategic portfolios in the Anambra State Government (Special Duties; Works & Transport; Finance & Budget; Housing & Urban Development) for several years, Honourable member of the National Assembly for 12 years (5th, 7th and 8th Sessions) during which he chaired the committee on Cooperation and Integration in Africa and a high-ranking member of the Tertiary Election committee for eight years. He became a member of the PAN Africa Parliament and was elected Vice President of the All African Legislative Summit. He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy in Public Administration from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, with academic works in Public Policy, governance, Development, Leadership, Management and Strategic studies. With his practical knowledge of the performance gaps in African public institutions and vast experience in governance and HR Management, Dr Ben Nwankwo is a renowned expert in public administration, leadership, innovation and change management with intriguing work-live experiences and glass-ceiling-breaking achievements.
He has travelled across 36 countries on critical assignments and has spoken in virtually all continents in his 12 years in the Parliament. He has designed and delivered learning solutions in Organizational Development, HR, Leadership Development, and Gender Management, among others, for both organizations and governments. As the lead consultant of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), he designed and directed the first retreat of the 36 Governors in Nigeria and developed the “Government-Business, Improvement \Framework.” Dr. Nwankwo believes that only a positive turn-around in the “people force” can change the performance outcomes of governments and organizations. As such, he is passionate about human capital infrastructure revolution, learning and leadership excellence in Africa, which reflects in the executive posts he has held across many countries, in books he has authored, such as Government and Community Development in Nigeria, which is on Amazon, and the numerous articles he has written. Asides his service in the Nigerian Parliament, Dr Nwankwo also serves on the board of different organizations. His highly-valued leadership and organizational expertise have helped over 100 organizations improve their performance.
Dr Nwankwo is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Administration and Local Government, a Fellow of the International Institute of Chartered Management Consultants, and a member of the American Talent Development Association, Canadian Society for Training and Development, CSTD and Nigeria Institute for Training and Development, NITAD. He currently chairs the Governing Council of the Africa Institute of Public Administration AIPA, Ghana. He continues to use his transformative expertise to lead top executives to drive transformation in African organizations and institutions.
