The TLA

One of Africa’s great statesmen, Jomo Kenyatta, once said, “Our children may learn about the heroes of our past. Our task is to make ourselves the architects of the future.” Indeed, across Africa, we have been told of the great exploits of past heroes towards building the continent- Kwame Nkrumah, Jomo Kenyatta, Obafemi Awolowo, Halie Selassie, Julius Nyerere, among others – but where is the continuation of such exploits today? Where are the leaders to continue building on the legacy of transformation left by the founding fathers of Africa?

This is why Transformational Leadership for Africa (TLA) was birthed – a novel, signature leadership residential program uniting African leaders in both private and public sectors to share thoughts on and drive transformational leadership at all levels in Africa. Africa cannot become the continent of our dreams if the people are not involved. If real development is to take place, the people have to be involved (Julious Nyerere).

However, only leaders with a vision of transformation for their sphere can lead their people on the journey to developing Africa. This is why TLA seeks to bring together top executives across all industries and sectors under one roof to fan the flames of transformation in African countries. No one can drive transformation without knowing what and who needs to be transformed and, how to go about it. Kwame Nkrumah rightly said that action without thought is empty; thought without action is blind.

TLA is for public administrators, policymakers, heads of organizations, NGO leaders, captains of industries, top business executives and entrepreneurs, social entrepreneurs, religious leaders, professionals in any sector, etc. Asides the immersive learning experience, TLA participants will have access to connect and share notes with various top executives in different spheres, get acquainted with global trends and technology in transformational leadership, be honoured for their contributions, and connect to the works of first-generation African leaders. In addition, TLA participants will get two globally-recognized honorary degrees from two schools, the Kwame Nkrumah Transformational Leadership Medal and a Distinguished Fellowship Award from AIPA (Africa Institute for Public Administration).

What’s more? Participants present at the W.E.B Du Bois Memorial Centre for Pan-African Culture and go on breathtaking tours to various landmars in Ghana, crowned with an exquisite cultural night and award dinner party for a discounted cost of $2500.

TLA is organized by London Bridge Business School, London, UK; African Institute of Public Administration, Leading Edge Business School, Abuja, Nigeria; Leading Edge Academy, Win Institute for Gender Studies; and Northeastern University, USA.
